My favorite apps - TVShow Time

Yes, there is no point in hiding it, I love technology. I am not an expert buy I embrace any new advances in the field.

I am also what marketeers call an early adopter, so any NEW gadget, program, app, etc is likely to cause desire and make me jump around in excitement. And what I enjoy the most? Sharing it with whoever I think might be interested!

Before sharing the app, I must explain another thing: I love TV series! Yes, it started as I child with A-team and Michael Knight and is lately manifesting itself with CSI, Grey´s Anatomy, Revenge, and The Vampire Diaries and a couple of other more...

So if you have a smartphone and you also are a TV series follower, this is your app: TVShow Time
Thank you to my friends Maria and Laura for sharing this great discovery with me!! ;-)

Just log in and select the shows you follow. The app will keep you updated on the dates each episode is aired and you can keep track of which ones you have already seen! Extremely useful when you are following so many series you cannot keep track of the episode numbers, or when you just can´t wait to see the next episode and you desperately need to know when will the next one be aired!

Cartagena de Indias - Colombia

I was extremely lucky to be in Cartagena de Indias for work last week and I ended in love with the city!

The old city still keeps its authentic defensive walls, and inside them you can find brightly painted houses with wooden balconies, colorful flowers and a lively atmosphere. You can get lost for hours walking through its streets, although the old city is not that big, but in every corner there is something that will make you stop to look and marvel!

And the food! Mmmmmm!!!!! Sea food is my favorite so I had a life´s share of camarones cooked in all kinds of ways with freshly pressed juices of fruits known and unknown to me!

I highly recommend this incredible Caribbean city!!

Wayuu bags from Colombia

I just bought this fabulous bag in the streets of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.

I am currently in love with Cartagena but that deserves another post.

These bags are hand woven by the Wayuu women from the region of La Guajira and come in a wide range of colors, from neon bright to neutral browns. It made it very difficult to choose only one!!

Hamburger Challenge - The Butcher

The challenge started in The Butcher, in the very busy Albert Cuyp market. (specially if you go during the weekend, like I did)

A tip on finding it: if you are walking through the market, you will inevitably be distracted by all the market stands and you will miss it. I do recommend to take the sidewalk, otherwise your hunger will grow exponentially with the vision of so much food and the image of a hamburger in your mind!

Once in The Butcher, you will find yourself in an open-kitchen space and a couple of tall tables. The procedure is quite simple: get your tall table, check the menu, order at the cash and watch while your order is being cooked in front of you.

Not easy to choose from this original menu (love the" Who let the dogs out" one!)

 Starring, The Daddy:

The Butcher with Cheese:

  Confirmed!!!!!! MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!
(also the french fries with mayo)

Punctuation:

Location: excessively busy
Menu: very original, for everyone (beef, lamb, chicken, veggie..)
Hamburger: both were mouth-watering
Fries: IN-CRE-DI-BLE
Service: very nice
Price: 8 - 12€ per person (with drink and fries)

As this is the first restaurant, it gets the TOP 1 position until challenged!

mmmm....Kruidnoten!!!!

Definitely my favorite Dutch sweet (besides stroopwafels and speculaas) and like most seasonal sweets, you crave for it for the rest of the year so as soon as they are available...you stock up!!

Kruidnoten start to appear at the end of October to prepare for the seasonal highlight of Sinterklaas (a distant cousin of Santa Claus and far more important in the Netherlands) at the beginning of December.

Their key to success? Cinnamon, brown sugar, butter and spices! Mmmmmmmm!!!!!!

The Hamburger Challenge

When I was living in Madrid, a group of friends and I set ourselves a big challenge: to find the best hamburger in city.

As you can imagine, it is not a simple task as it requires a lot of research, adventurous spirit and a hungry stomach! After a couple of months we managed to agree on a TOP 5 BEST HAMBURGERS which we happily recommended to anyone who would listen.

So it appears obvious that now that I´m in Amsterdam I should the same! :-)

Of course, suggestions are more than welcome!!!

PD. Sorry Mr MacDonald's and Mr King but you are excluded from this challenge!

Anna dello Russo for H&M

I am not a big fan of Anna dello Russo´s style, as I find it a bit too extravagant and bling-bling for me, but I couldn´t resist to get this necklace from her special collection for H&M!

The collection is completely different from all of the other designer collaborations with H&M as it does not include clothing at all, only accessories.

What do you think of the collection? Do you like my new croc pet?

Cap Rocat - Mallorca

This summer I had dinner in one of the most beautiful locations in Mallorca.

It used to be a military fortress that was renovated a couple of years ago into a hotel and restaurant with stunning results. I haven´t seen the hotel rooms, but their website´s pictures are very promising!

If you are planning on visiting Mallorca, you should definitely consider this option! And if its a little off your budget, you must at least visit the restaurant! ;-)

(all pictures are from Cap Rocat´s website, except the last 3 which were taken with my iphone)

Zuidermrkt Amsterdam

I wanted to share that the little Saturday market right next to my house has just turned 1 year old and has obtained a license to operate permanently!CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!

I discovered this lovely market by chance one Saturday that I bumped into it and since then, I try not to miss it if I´m in Amsterdam! The Zuidermrkt is on the square of Jacob Obrechtstraat and Johannes Verhulststraat and you can find fruit, vegetables, fish, cheeses, olives, meat, bread, cakes, sausages, crepes, flowers....you get the idea, right?

Make sure you don´t leave without trying the (best) carrot cake! Absolutely delicious!!!

I love hats

I love hats. And more specifically, the ones you wear to weddings!

In Spain, you wear hats to morning weddings and I just love the vision of all the women with colorful, big, original hats!

This one I wore at one of my best friend´s wedding and is from my fellow blogger Susan´s Style, it is great isn´t it?
